Sweet as Honey Step by Step

Today I would like to share my process for creating a Project Life card step by step..

 I started by pulling out some scraps from my stash, my Fiskers hexagon punch and the "Sweet as Honey" stamp set by HoneyBeeStamps

My goal was to create a PL card and embellishment for the Project Life Card Swap facebook group I am in.  The theme was Scraps dive Bee edition.  So I pulled all of these yellow scraps from my scrap bin and started punching out hexagons. 

The wood pattern paper was perfect for my base card.  I lined up my chosen stamps on my MISTI ( by My Sweet Petunia )  This is a fun tool for stamping on multiple cards. 

I colored the adorable little bee with a yellow sharpie, white gel pen and black liner pen. 

I think they came out super cute. 

The blossoms are the perfect flowers for spring.  I love how delicate and pretty they are. 

I used the same pens to color the centers of the blossoms to make them pop.  These are really easy to fussy cut and attach to my card with 3D foam squares.

I am really pleased at how cute these cards came out. 

I am sure they will be well received in my swap group.

Distress Crayons vs. Gelatos - My thoughts

Hi friends, Today I am going to share with you my comparison of Distress Crayons vs. Faber-Castell Gelatos

 First off I paired them side by side by colors that I had of each.  The colors are pretty close.

I applied the colors side by side by rubbing them onto a pallet sheet.  The left side is the Distress crayons, the right side is the Gelatos. The Distress crayons are a bit more thick and creamy.  I feel like the intensity of color is just a bit more vibrant with the Distress crayons in the colors that I worked with.

Next I stamped the exact same image using the HoneyBeeStamps "Not too Shabby" stamp set

I applied the color using a watercolor technique.  Simply dipping my brush into water and picking up the color from my pallet sheet.  More water, darker color, less water lighter color.  Again the Left is the Distress crayons, the right is the Gelatos.

So in a side by side comparison. Can you tell the difference? 

I feel they are pretty similar in color and application.  I like the smaller tip and pen like size of the Distress crayons for direct coloring of an image, I like the variety of color choice found in the Gelatos.  I think both are a fun medium for coloring images.

Hi Sweet friend

Hi Sweet friends.  Sorry it's been a while since I have shared a project with you.

Today I am sharing a card that I created using the "Sweet as Honey" stamp set

this is a great set for your Spring projects.  Bees and blossoms are always fun to work with. 

I used the New Distress crayons to color the images on my card. 

These crayons are really creamy. Kind of like Gelatos. 

I heat embossed all my images for a glossy outline.  Then I used water to blend the Distress crayons for a water color effect.   I fussy cut a few of the Honeycomb and all of the blossoms,  attaching them to my card with 3D foam squares to add dimension and interest to my design.

Happy February - Valentine Pocket Page

Happy February!

Today I am sharing with you a Project Life style pocket page that I have crated as a gift. 

I mixed a couple of stamp sets by Honey Bee Stamps when creating these pocket cards. 

 These are created using the Special Delivery Set   

The sentiments in this set are so versatile when creating PL cards or Greeting cards. 

They are filled with Love and sweet sayings. 

 Puffy stickers and bakers twine are the perfect embellishments for my cards. 

Any one of these cards can easily be turned into a Handmade Valentine for someone you Love!

For this card I used one of the sentiment stamps from  

The Beautiful Life set 

The hearts is this set and sentiments are perfect for creating your handmade Valentines.  

This is the adorable 6x6 paper pad that I used for this project. 

I love Echo Park paper.  

The double sided paper makes creating 

PL cards super easy to coordinate.

I Love Flaky Friends

 These Cute little Buddies are popping up all over the internet.   I made this adorable card to send to a friend.  These cute Winter Buddies are so fun for all your winter projects.

I have been creating with these guys a lot lately.  Here are a couple other cards I have made with them. 

This Penguin matches perfectly with the Doodle Bug Designs Winter paper collection.

This guy is just floating around in my shaker card.  So Cute.  I cut the outline of this bear from the  digital Print and cut download also available in the HoneyBeeStamp shop.

Snow Fun layout

Hi Today I am sharing a recent Project Life layout I created to document a fun snow day spent with my daughter and her best friend. 

Using parts of all three stamp sets from the "Flakey Friends Bundle" 

I created a Distress Ink watercolor card using every snowflake from the three different sets. 

 first I heat embossed the snowflakes and sentiment with WOW white pearl embossing powder.

 Then I used four different colored Distress inks spritzed with water on my acrylic block. After the ink is applied and spritzed with water you just lay the watercolor paper on top of the color to create the watercolor effect.

I love that the soft colors look like snow falling on the background of my card. 

 These adorable "friends" are the perfect embellishments on my card. For these guys, I stamps on white card stock then fussy cut them out.  I created hats, scarves and banners. So many options with these stamp sets.  They mix and match perfectly throughout the sets.

This is my completed layout. I think it came out super cute. My daughter will love this page in her album.

Winter Pocket page

Today I am sharing with you a pocket page that I created for my dear friend's Birthday. 

With the last name of Snow and a December birthday I thought this page would be perfect for her. 

I used the Doodlebug designs Frosty Friends collection for this project.

Of course I had to add some CraftyPickle flair  and Pickle relish sequins when embellishing some of the cards. 

The Winter set is perfect for this snowy page.
