Its a Fall / Texture Challenge.  This is my contribution to the blog for this challenge.  For this months project I thought I would create a mixed media wall hanging.  I covered a 12×12 board with burlap and layered in lots of fun materials and textures. I used corrugated paper to cut out my title and some leaves. I sprayed them with some glimmer mist for a little “bling” I used wood veneer flowers and layered them with some textured paper flowers I cut using my Tim Holtz tattered floral die cut.  These also were sprayed with some glimmer mist.  I could not resist adding the enamel dots to some of the flowers. Lastly I hand stitched a cute chevron pumpkin to complete my project.

Mixing it up... Using paper from several designers on one layout

Hi, Carrie here. Just wanted to share with you today how I mix it up by using patterned paper from different designers on one two page scrapbook layout.  This is the final result.

Week 36 Kiwi Lane DT Doodles Sketch

First I like to pull out several pieces of pattern paper from my stash and choose several I think will work together on my layout.
I like the way all of these papers have warm tones of orange, yellow, green and blue.  As you can see I chose papers from different paper designers - Simple Stories, MME, We R Memory Keepers and Bo Bunny. All different but all warm colors.
Then I grab my pictures and my Kiwi Lane Templates and layout my borders. I am creating this layout for the Kiwi Lane blog weekly sketch challenge.

Next I Choose which papers I like for each element and then I cut them by hand. I layer the papers and attach my photos.  Then I embellish.  Check out the cool sequins I got from the Whimsical Twist shop. http://shop.whimsicaltwist.com/collections/categories/sequins

These are a close up look at my finished pages.  I really like how it all came together. Thanks for stopping by today!

Chalkboard trend

I am sure you have seen all of the many instances of the chalkboard trend around the world wide web. It’s hard to miss.  Well I am loving all the little embellishments that go along with the new MME Chalk Studio Collection.  They coordinate nicely with the new “Cut and Paste” collection too.
I did not have any 12×12 paper for this collection so I decided to follow a sketch I saw on Pinterest. I cut all my elements in 3″ widths to create this Layout
.

I have been going “back” and scrapping all my older photos, these are from 1996 when my now almost 19 year old son was just two years old.

I love looking at all my older photos they really bring back such happy memories. It really is why we do this. Preserving precious memories one scrapbook page at a time.

(Example: Playing card, bingo card, wooden game pieces, monopoly pieces, etc)

All my friends and family know how much I love Scrabble so I was really inspired by this theme "Game On"  I just had to use Scrabble tiles in my Layout.

It's another Kiwi Lane Sketch Challenge

I hope your not bored with yet another DT Doodles Sketch Challenge by Kiwi Lane. I do enter almost every week.  I just love their templates and how great my pages look when I find inspiration using their sketches.

WEEK 31 DT Doodles Sketch

So I was sitting at my desk wondering what paper I wanted to use for this sketch and I see my pile of leftovers from the "poppy" collection that I used on my layout for My Creative Scrapbook and I decided to see if I could create my layout for this challenge with the scraps.... so here goes.

First off I used my Scallop template and my glitter gel pen to create this border, I love this Poppy paper.

Then I cut another border using one of the Sunnybrook Lane templates. and I cut 2 other patterned pieces to coordinate.

I then traced a flower and dry embossed on the back for texture. I also inked all my pieces with coordinating chalk ink.

After that I layered all my pieces together following the sketch and added my Embellishments.  Now I just need to figure out which photos to put on here.

Thanks for stopping by.
